Summary:

Birthday Party and Events Host is responsible for communicating and collaborating with guests throughout all aspects of their birthday party/event at the Museum. This includes but is not limited to communicating with guests to customize the plan for their birthday party/event, preparing for the party/event, interacting with guests upon arrival, serving as the host for the designated birthday party/event, overseeing setup and cleanup, and ensuring guest satisfaction throughout the entirety of the program.

The Birthday Party and Events Host will present a positive image of the Museum, provide high-quality customer service, take pride and ownership in the Museums’ vision/mission and hosted birthday parties/events, and deliver outstanding service to every guest who comes through our doors.

Qualifications

Two or more years of experience in customer relations including hospitality. Must be at least 18 years old and enjoy being around children. Ability to work with a large number of children / parents / educators / events guests visiting the Museum and be enthusiastic and reliable. Ability to learn and understand Altru ticketing system. Possess the skills to manage customer questions and concerns effectively and efficiently and engage the appropriate managers for assistance. Strong organizational and communication skills plus initiative, tact, attention to detail and discretion are necessary. Computer skills with proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database software preferred. Full time and/or part-time position. Saturdays, Sundays’ and some evenings are required.

SummaryThe Assistant Building Superintendent (ABS) works as a hands-on supervisor to assist Building Superintendent in the supervision of the Building Services, Janitorial, and Security Departments to ensure that the building, mechanical equipment, and grounds are maintained in an appropriate manner. The ABS is charged with supporting the day-to-day implementation of policies, procedures, programs, and workplace services, and practices with delivery that provides a well-managed and well-maintained building. Places an emphasis on a positive response to the concerns and needs of museum guests, internal and external, environmental health and safety, and quality programs in coordination with the Museum’s goals and objectives.

Qualifications: Associate degree in facilities management, building, business, or another related field required, Bachelor’s degree preferred. Engineering, Business or technical training or certifications a plus. A minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience, preferably in commercial industry with facility management experience required. Experience in maintenance, construction, engineering, and all facets of property operation and building management preferred. Ability to read and understand construction specifications and blueprints. Proficient in understanding
management agreements and contract language. Excellent computer and systems knowledge;
Strong literacy in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.)

SummaryThe Exhibit Technician will work as a member of the exhibits team under the direction of the Exhibits Manager to maintain, repair, and refurbish existing physical and audio visual exhibits.  Will participate in the set up and take down of traveling exhibits; and participate in the conceptualization, design, engineering, and fabrication of future permanent or traveling exhibits. The primary focus of this position is on the daily care, upkeep, and cleaning of exhibit components – specifically on weekends and after-hours events – ensuring they are maintained to a high level, and conducting or arranging repairs when required. Candidate must be a “self-starter” with a strong customer service ethic, the ability to analyze situations and troubleshoot problems, and deliver appropriate solutions.

QualificationsBasic understanding of computer and audio-video equipment, with the ability to learn new skills in regards to operating and maintaining specialized A/V equipment and software. Knowledgeable of, or willing to learn, basic carpentry techniques, hand tools,  power tools, basic electrical wiring and lighting, paints and adhesives, and associated safety practices.  Must have ability to work in a fast-paced environment, able to analyze situations, responding quickly to deliver effective solutions.  Must be able to work in high spaces 30’ and higher, lift 50 lbs., and work in awkward positions:  prone, supine, etc. with ability to work 8 hours a day at a bench or moving from area to area as the situation demands.  Must be available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays. Must have Class E driver license.  Must have personal vehicle insurance if using personal vehicle to pick up and drop off parts, etc.

Summary: EcoExplorer Interns will be trained to become Environmental Ambassadors for MODS and the broader Southeast Florida community. Interns will primarily work as Environmental Educators in the Museum and facilitate activities, tours, and demonstrations designed to teach guests the importance of South Florida’s natural systems. Interns will take part in numerous trainings and field excursions to local environments to build their workforce readiness and environmental knowledge.

Qualifications

Current/rising 10th 11th, or 12th grade student from one of the following Broward County Public

Schools: Stranahan High School, Dillard High School, Fort Lauderdale High School, Northeast High School, South Plantation High School, South Broward High School. Good communications skills and the ability to learn professional soft/hard skills. Ability to learn workplace safety and effective crowd control techniques. The ability to work under pressure and constantly changing conditions. Ability to stand for long periods of time. Must be available to work holidays, weekends, and evenings. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
