SummaryThe Assistant Building Superintendent (ABS) works as a hands-on supervisor to assist Building Superintendent in the supervision of the Building Services, Janitorial, and Security Departments to ensure that the building, mechanical equipment, and grounds are maintained in an appropriate manner. The ABS is charged with supporting the day-to-day implementation of policies, procedures, programs, and workplace services, and practices with delivery that provides a well managed and well-maintained building. Places an emphasis on a positive response to the concerns and needs of museum guests, internal and external, environmental health and safety, and quality programs in coordination with the Museum’s goals and objectives.

Qualifications: Associate degree in facilities management, building, business, or another related field required, Bachelor’s degree preferred. Engineering, Business or technical training or certifications a plus. A minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience, preferably in commercial industry with facility management experience required. Experience in maintenance, construction, engineering, and all facets of property operation and building management preferred. Ability to read and understand construction specifications and blueprints. Proficient in understanding
management agreements and contract language. Excellent computer and systems knowledge;
Strong literacy in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.)

Previous customer services experience plus good communications skills and the ability to speak before large audiences. Ability to speak to early childhood ages and interact with families. Ability to engage in playful learning. Attention to safety and techniques and effectively able to control crowds. Have the ability t work under pressure in constantly changing conditions. Have the ability to stand for long periods of time. Must be available to work weekends, Evenings, and holidays. Must be able to lift 25 pounds.

SummaryThe Exhibit Technician will work as a member of the exhibits team under the direction of the Exhibits Manager to maintain, repair, and refurbish existing physical and audio visual exhibits.  Will participate in the set up and take down of traveling exhibits; and participate in the conceptualization, design, engineering, and fabrication of future permanent or traveling exhibits. The primary focus of this position is on the daily care, upkeep, and cleaning of exhibit components – specifically on weekends and after-hours events – ensuring they are maintained to a high level, and conducting or arranging repairs when required. Candidate must be a “self-starter” with a strong customer service ethic, the ability to analyze situations and troubleshoot problems, and deliver appropriate solutions.

QualificationsBasic understanding of computer and audio-video equipment, with the ability to learn new skills in regards to operating and maintaining specialized A/V equipment and software. Knowledgeable of, or willing to learn, basic carpentry techniques, hand tools,  power tools, basic electrical wiring and lighting, paints and adhesives, and associated safety practices.  Must have ability to work in a fast-paced environment, able to analyze situations, responding quickly to deliver effective solutions.  Must be able to work in high spaces 30’ and higher, lift 50 lbs., and work in awkward positions:  prone, supine, etc. with ability to work 8 hours a day at a bench or moving from area to area as the situation demands.  Must be available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays. Must have Class E driver license.  Must have personal vehicle insurance if using personal vehicle to pick up and drop off parts, etc.

SummaryThe Guest Experience Associate will sell the Museum’s various products and programs, handle a multitude of tasks including facilitating school/group/camp check-in, and participate in special events for educators and/or members. The GEA will phone and speak person-to-person to communicate with customers about reservations, payment deadlines, procedures while at the museum, and other policies.

QualificationsHigh school degree. Experience in phone sales (1 year or more). Heightened customer service and organizational skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to handle multi-task. Computer literate in word processing, Excel, Word, etc. Ability to work extended hours, including weekends and holidays. Agent must be able to learn the ALTRU Ticketing System quickly.

SummaryDeliver the best IMAX experience to visitors. Perform assigned job duties at the highest level of efficiency to ensure that the ticket office is operating at its optimum. Maintain a working knowledge of the Museum of Discovery and Science and the AutoNation IMAX Theater including current films, programs and exhibits.

QualificationsAbility to communicate and work well with others to manage personnel and to assist in the budgetary process.  Must possess excellent customer service and program presentation skills. Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time and lift 50 lbs. Weekend, evening and holiday hours on a regular basis are required.

SummaryThe Human Resources Manager assists the Director of Human Resources with the daily operation of the Human Resources Department, including recruitment and screening of new applicants, maintaining accurate records for all employees, and developing retention and engagement techniques across departments. Will assist in benefits enrollment, staff recognition, new hire orientation, training and other HR functions relating to museum staff. This position works closely with the Director of Human Resources and involves regular communication with MODS team members to ensure consistency within company policies.

Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or Communications with four years of Human Resources or related experience. Non-profit setting preferred. Must be outgoing, enjoy working with people and possess excellent organizational and communication skills. Must enjoy recruiting. Experience in leadership, training, and presentations to groups is a must. Will have a friendly, mature attitude and the ability to build relationships and work with people from various demographics and diverse backgrounds. Requires strong language and communication skills (written and oral). Must have an enthusiastic and positive attitude toward helping others and the ability to work independently and on a team. Must be dependable and available to work a flexible schedule, including frequent presence on site, on weekends and as special events might require. Computer literacy and experience in various software applications are necessary; ADP experience is a plus. Driver’s license needed for offsite activities
