Be a Champion for Your Community

It’s Why We Are Here

MODS’ mission is connecting people to inspiring science every day! The Museum aims to provide volunteers with tasks that accommodate their interests and create an experience that is both beneficial and gratifying.

We are seeking enthusiastic volunteers to serve in a variety of ways. Adult volunteers of all ages are welcome. Youth volunteers must be at least 14 years old and have completed 8th grade. Please see below for desired opportunities.

Community assistance is incredibly valuable to our team, so please consider becoming a volunteer today!

Hello!

MODS is excited to start the rollout of our new Volunteer Sessions.  These sessions are based on our Traveling Exhibit Gallery so the dates for upcoming sessions will correspond to the dates of our Traveling exhibits- which are usually 3 – 4 months at a time. Please be sure to see the dates of the listed session being offered.  It is necessary to have weekday availability.

We are looking for adult volunteers who are able to commit to 1-2 scheduled shifts per week for the duration of the session.  We will offer multiple shifts per day (9am -1pm) or (1pm – 5pm). We want volunteers who love to get involved and want to help MODS provide an amazing experience to our visiting guests and families.

Who are we looking for to volunteer?

People who are comfortable talking and interacting with guests (ages 0 – 100). People who can reliably report to their scheduled shifts.

What types of things will you be doing?  Will you have training?

You will receive museum orientation as well as a training session on all activities that are required during your session. Activities will correspond to the traveling exhibit theme and activations will be done on each shift. Along with activities, all volunteers will be required to monitor the floor area and ensure that museum rules are being followed. Volunteers will assist staff with cleaning up work areas.

Is there a minimum age for sessions? To volunteer at MODS?

The minimum age to volunteer for sessions is 18 years old. Please note that for session volunteers- you will need to have weekday availability during the entirety of the session (during the school year).

NOTE: For 14 – 17-year-olds we will be posting individual based volunteer opportunities throughout the year. Please see our volunteer page for more information and dates available.
