Turtle Walks

By Moonlight on the Beach!

June 6, 8, 13, 15, 20, 21, 22, 27 and 29*

8 p.m. – 1 a.m.

Your adventure begins at the Museum with a presentation about turtles and then continues at Fort Lauderdale Beach where a Museum expert guides you to sea turtle nesting grounds. We can’t guarantee a nesting sea turtle will be spotted on every walk, but when it happens, it’s a natural wonder you will never forget!

Cost:
Museum members: $30 per person (adult or child, age 9+)
Non-members: $40 per person (adult or child, age 9+)

Parking is available in the Museum bus loop on a first-come, first-served basis.

Participants must be at least 9 years old.

    Fifth Annual Family Pride Celebration at MODS

    Colorful Fun and Educational Activities for Everyone

    Date: June 24

    Time: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

    Celebrate Pride with MODS! Our day-long event is filled with colorful fun and educational activities for everyone. Participate in a Pride Parade through our exhibits! Join us in our rainbow science lab for a make-and-take Pride flag, instantly drying tie-dyed T-shirts (purchase a white shirt for $5 or bring one to use) and see a special Pride KaBoom! Show.

    • Exhibits, Shows and Demos: Participate in the rainbow science lab and make-and-take a Pride flag, prisms and tie-dyed t-shirt! See an explosion of colors with a special Pride KaBoom!
    • Animal Encounters: Meet our colorful resident animal ambassadors!

    Just for Early Learners (ages 0-6): Celebrate Pride with dancing and shimmying to music and bubbles, and create Pride rainbow activities.

      Noon Year's Eve

      Ring In New Year!

      Date: December 31 • 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. • Ball Drop at 12 p.m.

      Ring in 2024 with our annual Noon Year’s Eve celebration! Join us for a mid-day celebration with immersive activities, music, dancing and science. Create festive party gear and prepare for a ball drop to ring in the new year! Visit our gallery wall to add your own New Year’s resolution.

        27th Annual Wine, Spirits and Culinary Celebration

        Dine, Drink, Dance and Discover!

        When: March 1, 2024

        Time: 6:30 p.m. – 10 p.m.

        Cheers to 26 Years! Dine, dance and discover at an event like no other at the 26th Annual Bank of America Wine, Spirits and Culinary Celebration. The event’s legendary Grand Tasting will take place from 6:30–10 p.m. VIP access starts at 5:30 p.m. This ticketed event includes a grand tasting of cuisine from south Florida’s premier restaurants, an array of wine and spirits from around the world, music and dancing, as well as a silent auction. Adults 21+ only event.

          Enjoy a day of dancing, music and more as we celebrate Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month at MODS! Observe the geology of some of the many islands in the Pacific. Learn about different art forms from various Asian-Pacific American cultures. Explore the science of volcanoes and islands and participate in a shark tooth dig!

          • Watch an IMAX on the GIANT Screen: Flight of the Butterflies, Secrets of the Sea, Legend of the Enchanted Reef, Arctic: Our Frozen Planet and MORE!

            Eye of the Storm

            Learn all About the Natural Phenomenon of Hurricanes

            Date: June 1, 2024

            Time: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

            MODS is teaming up with FIU International Hurricane Research Center and the Florida Division of Emergency Management for one of our most popular annual events! Hurricane season is around the corner and future storm chasers, meteorologists and building engineers will learn all about this natural phenomenon and how to be prepared for anything nature throws our way! Test building skills against strong winds, learn about the water cycle and explore our Storm Center exhibit.

            Exhibits, Shows and Demos: Attend the What’s Up with Weather? demonstration to explore the great water cycle and its significance in Earth’s weather patterns and then make-and-take structures to weather the storm at the Windy Towers station.

            Animal Encounters: Meet our resident animals and learn how they protect themselves during these intense storms.

            Watch an IMAX on the GIANT Screen: Flight of the Butterflies, Secrets of the Sea, Legend of the Enchanted Reef, Arctic: Our Frozen Planet and more!

            Career Connections: Healthcare, Environment, Education, Aviation, Technology, Space Exploration and more!

            Just for early learners (age 0-6): Dive into learning about how a hurricane is formed and experience its effects, a hurricane in a bottle and test structures winds to see what can withstand hurricane-force winds.

              FREE Indoor and Outdoor Science Expo!

              When: March 8, 2025

              Where: Museum of Discovery and Science and Esplanade Park

              Enjoy a super-charged, super-fun celebration of science! These events feature countless dynamic demonstrations, mind-blowing presentations, hands-on activities and engaging experiments. Walk the block, and visit the STEM Expo and demos from our community partners. 

              Exhibits, Shows and Demos: Experience all MODS has to offer! All day long, the MODS Squad will put on a mix of shows (KaBoom; Nitro; Bubble; Panther Prowl, electricity show and more). 

              Just for early learners (age 0-6): Take your first steps into STEM with MODS’ Early Childhood Sprouting Science. Explore coding for early learners with DUPLO and music, and Storybook STEAM!
