Our Goal is a Museum Visit For All

MODS’ inclusivity and accessibility programs have a direct impact on our south Florida community, especially children. MODS strongly believes that every individual, regardless of financial means, should be able to visit the Museum. Our Opening Doors Initiative enables individuals, families and educational groups better access to the Museum and its resources.

To provide a more sensory-sensitive environment for individuals on the autism spectrum, the theater lights will be turned up and the sound will be lowered. All films will be presented in 2D and no trailers will be shown before the movie. Audience members are welcome to get up, sing, walk, dance and shout without worrying about complaints. Families can bring snacks from home, as well as blankets and other small items to be comfortable.

Participation in a variety of sensory-based activities is also available throughout the Museum. Children can engage in social interactions and improve their processing, modulation and regulation of sensory input to increase participation in a natural environment.

Leo Goodwin GOOD 4U KIDS’ CLUB

Helping underserved communities gain access to science

MODS invites social service agencies, children and family organizations to take part in the Good 4U Kids’ Club made possible by the Leo Goodwin Foundation. This special club is part of the Museum’s Access Program and was created to offer the MODS experience to children and their families who might otherwise not be able to afford a visit. These children have been identified as program beneficiaries due to their limited resources and the challenges they face in their home environment.

Through partnerships with social service agencies, children and families with limited resources and challenges in the home environment enjoy free access to the Museum. For more information, questions or to arrange a field trip, please call Cameron Moore at 954.712.1365 or email booking@mods.org.
