Spooky season has arrived and the Museum of Discovery and Science (MODS) has an eerie, exciting lineup of activities for ghouls of all ages! Families can crack the case with the Mystery Inc. gang in the Scooby-Doo!™ Mansion Mayhem traveling exhibit, kids can grab their cauldrons for a Spooky Science, fun-filled Halloween and adults will want to make room for fine food and spirits during the 28th Annual Bank of America Wine, Spirits & Culinary Celebration.

“MODS is diving into full festive mode this October, bringing together iconic pop culture favorites and hosting our biggest fundraiser of the year,” said Joseph P. Cox, president and CEO of MODS. “Scooby-Doo! has captivated fans of all ages for decades, sparking curiosity, sharpening problem-solving skills and blending science with fun. And for adults, we’re excited to welcome South Florida’s top restaurants and spirits distributors for a special evening, all in support of our Museum’s mission of connecting people to inspiring science through innovative, STEM-focused programming.”

Frightfully Fun Family Activities

Join Scooby-Doo!™ and the Mystery Inc. gang in Scooby-Doo!™ Mansion Mayhem, presented by Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital and Florida Prepaid College Savings Plans, to help solve the mystery of the jewel-thieving ghost. Look for clues and decipher puzzles. Research fingerprints with Velma to create a sketch of the ghost, build a trap with Fred and investigate portraits with Daphne as your sleuthing skills pull you into the caper! Build a case file to help uncover the truth and investigate the found stolen items to find the truth! You can even join Shaggy and Scooby in the kitchen to create a snack that helps them get back on track. Don’t forget to snap a picture with the gang to celebrate solving the mystery. This immersive experience, in partnership with Warner Bros. Themed Entertainment, encourages families to put their problem-solving skills to the test. Young detectives will work through the rooms to discover secrets of the mansion, unmask the jewel thief and meet different characters from the iconic TV show that has captivated fans for more than five decades. SCOOBY-DOO!™ Mansion Mayhem was produced by The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis in partnership with Warner Bros. It is locally presented by Florida Prepaid College Savings Plan and sponsored by Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. The exhibit runs through January 5, 2025.

The investigations don’t stop there! During Mystery Weekends on Saturdays, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sundays, from 12 p.m. – 5 p.m., families are encouraged to put on their detective hats and dive into the real-world of cryptic behaviors by meeting MODS’ resident animal ambassadors with wild, mysterious adaptations. Learn how professionals use chemistry to uncover hidden clues and put sleuthing skills to the test. From exploring the science behind sight, sound, smell and touch to unraveling nature’s best-kept secrets, families will discover how all the senses are integral in decoding the mysteries. Included with Museum admission.

Grab your cauldrons for a wicked good fun-filled evening of Spooky Science: Tricks and Treats on Halloween, Thursday, October 31, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.! Join MODS for a costume contest, misty bubbles and pictures with Spooky Spot. Dance to the Monster Mash Music Party and experience the MODS spooky science lab haunted house. See resident creepy crawlers and make your own monster finger puppets, creepy, crawly spiders, electric circuit creatures and liquid cauldron treats. The cost per child for members is $10 and non-members is $30. Accompanying adults pay regular Museum admission. Space is limited and preregistration is required at mods.org/spooktacular.
