Learn Through Play

Play is a child’s superpower — it fuels curiosity, builds critical skills and is one of the brain’s favorite ways to learn. This network is making sure more children experience the magic of learning through play.

MODS is a proud member of the LEGO Group’s Playful Learning Museum Network. Now in its fourth and largest year, the network—hosted by the Association of Science and Technology Centers (ASTC) and funded by the LEGO Foundation—unites children’s and science museums to pioneer playful learning experiences both within institutions and throughout communities. Since 2021, the network has reached millions of children, expanding the power of play to even more.

As part of the LEGO^{^®} Build the Change initiative, which empowers young learners to use creativity and critical thinking to address real-world challenges. This program encourages children to dream big, explore ideas and innovate solutions for global issues like sustainability, climate change and community development.

LEGO^{^®} Build the Change emphasizes that play is more than just fun — it’s a powerful tool for learning and growth. Children engage in hands-on activities with LEGO^{^®} bricks and DUPLO^{^®} blocks that foster essential skills like problem-solving, empathy, teamwork and resilience. Research shows that play stimulates brain development and equips learners with the tools to thrive in future challenges.

Holistic Learning with LEGO^{^®} Challenges.

The program encourages participants to experiment, explore, and innovate by focusing on five key developmental areas:

Cognitive – Encouraging curiosity and critical thinking
Social – Building teamwork and interpersonal skills
Emotional – Developing empathy and emotional intelligence
Creativity – Fostering imagination and innovative thinking

The LEGO Group’s Playful Learning Museum Network is funded by the LEGO Foundation and hosted by the Association of Science and Technology Centers (ASTC).
