    The Museum of Discovery and Science is dedicated to providing a memorable experience for all students, including those with special needs. Please help us prepare for your visit by telling us about your students and any modifications or accommodations they may require. Your answer will not affect your ability to participate.     All field trip options with the exception of IMAX Immersion include general Museum admission. Two-week advance notice is needed in order to schedule a show, lab, demo or makerspace activity.

    MODS Field Trip Acknowledgment

    Thank you for choosing the Museum of Discovery & Science for your upcoming school field trip. We look forward to hosting you and your group. In order to ensure a high-quality group experience, please note the following:

    • Field trip reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis. A non-refundable deposit of $75 or 20% of the total due (whichever is greater) must be received no later than two (2) weeks after your reservation has been confirmed to ensure your field trip date is secured. Reservations without paid deposits are subject to cancellation.
    • Accepted forms of payment include cash, credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover), check or PO number (for Broward County, Miami-Dade County and Palm Beach County schools only).
    • PAYMENT ADDRESS - Please make checks or money orders payable to “Museum of Discovery & Science” and mail to: Museum of Discovery & Science Reservations Department, 401 SW Second Street, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312.
    • Final payment is due 7 business days prior to the field trip unless you are from a school paying with a PO, and then full payment is due upon arrival at the Museum.
    • In addition to the deposit, the Museum requires that one payment be made for the balance.
    • The lead teacher is responsible for collecting payment from additional chaperones attending the field trip prior to arrival. Any chaperones not included in the reservation and choosing to pay separately will pay the regular Museum admission rate and will not be guaranteed seats in shows/activities scheduled for your field trip. Museum memberships are not valid for field trip entrance.
    • Final headcounts must be provided 14 days in advance. The school is responsible for payment of the number reserved and confirmed at final head count deadline. There are no refunds for headcount changes on day of arrival. Increasing your head count is based on availability and not guaranteed.
    Rescheduling Fee If you reschedule your date, you will be charged a $25 rescheduling fee. Rescheduling cannot be guaranteed due to limited availability. Cancellation, "No Shows", and Refunds:
    • Please notify the MODS staff at booking@mods.net if you need to adjust your group’s head count, cancel or reschedule your visit.
    • If you cancel your reservation within 14 days of booking your visit, there will be no penalty.
    • If you cancel your reservation 14 days or more after booking your visit, you will forfeit your 20% nonrefundable deposit and be charged a $25 fee.
    • If you cancel your reservation 7 days or more before your visit, you will be refunded less your 20% nonrefundable deposit.
    • If you cancel less than 7 days before your scheduled visit, no refund will be issued.
    • There will be no refunds if your group is a no-show the day of your scheduled visit; and will be charged a "No Show" fee of $25.
    Accommodations: MODS aims to be inclusive for all our visitors. If your group requires special accommodations, call us at 954.713.0930 or email us at booking@mods.net for assistance as soon as possible in advance of your field trip date. Day of Arrival and Check-In Information:
    • Your group should arrive 30 minutes prior to your scheduled time to check-in. The group lead must have the final head count of ALL CHILDREN and ALL ADULTS included in the reservation and any extra chaperones who are not included in the reservation prior to arriving at the Museum.
    • All tours are self-guided unless otherwise indicated on this confirmation. Upon arrival, chaperones will be provided with a detailed schedule and Museum map.
    • Please be advised that if your group arrives late, you may miss your scheduled activities with no opportunity to reschedule. It is the chaperone’s responsibility to ensure their groups arrive on time to all scheduled activities. No refunds will be issued for missed activities, labs or IMAX showtimes.
    • Effective Fall 2019, our bus loop is an active loading/unloading zone only. Onsite parking is no longer available for buses. Please share this information with the bus company you have contracted.
    • After your group has been dropped off for your visit, the buses should not return until they have been called to return or a scheduled pick up time has been arranged between the lead chaperone and the bus driver. Please make sure to obtain the bus driver’s name and cell phone number to properly communicate.
    • All personal belongings and backpacks must remain on the bus. We provide a limited number of lockers for valuables.
    • We now offer a designated area for your lunch time as part of your field trip schedule. Please note that our lunch areas are all outdoors.
    • Groups that choose to bring their own lunches must pack them in coolers or boxes with the school’s name clearly labeled on them. NO GARBAGE BAGS ARE ALLOWED due to safety concerns. Lunches will be stored in an air-conditioned room until your designated lunch time.
    • Upon arrival, the groups must unload their lunches and place them in the lunch bins provided to you. During departure, groups are expected to load the coolers or boxes back on the buses.
    • If you ordered lunches through the Museum, they will be delivered to your group’s assigned lunch location.
    • Lunch times are in 20-minute increments. Field Trip groups may not request specific lunch times. They are assigned according to your schedule.
