GeoDome Scheduling Guidelines

Each GeoDome session is 45 minutes long, followed by a 15-minute reset period. For example, a request for four (4) sessions would follow this schedule:

Sample Schedule (4 sessions)

  • First Session: 8:00 a.m. – 8:45 a.m.
  • Reset Period: 8:45 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.
  • Second Session: 9:00 a.m. – 9:45 a.m.
  • Reset Period: 9:45 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
  • Third Session: 10:00 a.m. – 10:45 a.m.
  • Reset Period: 10:45 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
  • Fourth Session: 11:00 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.
  • Clean-up and Depart: 11:45 a.m.

Important Note: To ensure all groups are served efficiently, sessions must run consecutively with only the 15-minute reset periods in between. We are unable to accommodate extended breaks or scheduling deviations during GeoDome outreach visits. Please make the necessary arrangements at your school/group to align with these guidelines. We appreciate your understanding.

MODS GeoDome Planetarium Logistics

(Please read carefully. Schools, groups, organizations must provide and agree to the following prior to MODS arrival.)

The GeoDome Planetarium can only be booked for indoor facilities with ceilings 13 feet or higher and door widths 4 feet wide or larger. The Planetarium cannot be placed outdoors.

GeoDome Dimension Requirements:
Height: 13 feet or higher (nothing blocking 13 feet.) This includes lights, projectors and anything hanging from the ceiling lower than 13 feet.
Width: 26 feet. MODS staff must be able to move completely around 26 feet.
Door Width Requirements: 4 feet wide or larger.
The GeoDome Planetarium cannot be transported up any type of stairs.
**Space/dimensions listed above MUST be allocated for the entire duration of the outreach.**

There will be absolutely no refunds, exchanges, or credits if the MODS educators arrive to your location and there is not enough space for the GeoDome, and they are unable to properly execute the programming. Please ensure that you have the proper space and requirements before agreeing to the logistics. 

Arrival/Departure:
Arrival: MODS educators will arrive 90 minutes before the first scheduled session for set up.
Departure: Please allow MODS educators 90 minutes to break down the GeoDome Planetarium.

Additional logistics:
School/group/organization must clean the floor before arrival (i.e. vacuumed, mopped, swept depending on the surface.)
School/group/organization must provide one room where each session cycles in and out. 
All students/bodies must remain at least 15 feet away from GeoDome exterior.
Students in the GeoDome must be supervised at all times.

**MODS staff will be providing strict safety instructions that everyone in the room will need to follow, including adults. If the situation becomes unsafe for the educator or audience, we reserve the right to stop the program and depart your location. If we have to stop the program, there will be no refunds or exchanges provided.**

MODS GeoDome Planetarium Reservation Policies


Payment:

When you call or go online to reserve, have your payment option ready. Accepted forms of payment include cash, credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover), check or PO number (for schools only). A 20% non-refundable deposit is required. Full payment is due prior to arrival at the Museum, STEMobile, or Family Science Night experience.

  • Experience reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis. A non-refundable deposit of 20% of the total due (whichever is greater) must be received no later than two (2) weeks after your reservation has been confirmed. 

  • Accepted forms of payment include cash, credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover), check or PO number. Full payment is required in advance of your outreach.

  • Refunds cannot be issued when cancellations are made less than seven days before scheduled experience (this includes all components of your booked experience: STEMobile, Family Science Night, Outreach).

  • PAYMENT ADDRESS - Please make checks payable to “Museum of Discovery & Science” and mail to: Museum of Discovery & Science Reservations Department, 401 SW Second Street, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312. (Note: Please place the reservation order number somewhere on your check.)

  • Final payment is due 7 business days prior to the outreach unless you are from a school paying with a PO, and then full payment is due 10 business days after the outreach.

Rescheduling Fee: If you reschedule your event date after two weeks, you will be charged a $75 rescheduling fee. Rescheduling cannot be guaranteed due to limited availability. 

Final head count: Final head count is due 14 days prior to visit date. Reducing your head count must take place by this time. Increasing your head count is based on availability and not guaranteed. The school/group is responsible for the number reserved and confirmed at final head count deadline.

Cancellation, "No Shows" and Refunds:

  • Please notify the MODS staff at booking@mods.org if you need to adjust your group’s headcount, cancel or reschedule your outreach.

  • If you cancel or reschedule your outreach after your deposit due date, you will be charged a $75 rescheduling/cancellation fee.

  • If you cancel your reservation 7 days or less before your outreach, you will be charged 20% of your total amount, plus a $75 cancellation fee.

  • There will be no refunds if your group is a no-show the day of your scheduled outreach. You will be charged a "No Show" fee of $75, plus the full amount of your outreach.

Late Payment Fee: If payment is received late (one day or more following the outreach), you will be charged a $75 late fee. If a purchase order is provided, you will be charged a $75 late fee if payment is received more than 10 business days following the outreach.

Mileage Fee: An additional $75.00 mileage fee will be added on to outreaches occurring in Palm Beach County or Miami-Dade County. Any outreach program occurring outside of Palm Beach County or Miami-Dade County will be subject to an additional fee.
