EXTENDED thru JUNE 1 2014 including MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND

In celebration of Earth Day 2014, the BIGGEST screen in South Florida
will show James Cameron's AVATAR
in amazing 3D with never-before-seen footage.

We are excited to announce that AVATAR: SPECIAL EDITION - An IMAX 3D Experience® will be showing in our AutoNation IMAX Theater - home of the BIGGEST screen in South Florida. This enhanced release features never-before-seen footage and gives fans an opportunity to see the 2009 film again for a limited time only. AVATAR: SPECIAL EDITION - An IMAX 3D Experience® will be featured on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through May 18, 2014.

April 22, 2014, is Earth Day
and the environmental message that weaves through AVATAR: SPECIAL EDITION captures the Earth Day theme of honoring our planet through environmental awareness and activism.

In a December 2009 Filmcast interview, Director James Cameron stated, "I’m not trying to make people feel guilty. I just want them to internalize a sense of respect and a sense of taking responsibility for the stewardship of the earth and I think this film can do that by creating an emotional reaction."

The AutoNation IMAX Theater's presentation of AVATAR: SPECIAL EDITION - An IMAX 3D Experience® is projected exclusively on classic 15-perforation/70mm IMAX 3D film. Featuring 16-18k of resolution per film frame, our true IMAX 3D film format takes full advantage of South Florida's largest screen, delivering a fully-immersive cinematic experience of the best kind, where the revolutionary technology invented to make the film disappears into the emotion of the characters and the sweep of the story.

ABOUT AVATAR: SPECIAL EDITION - An IMAX 3D Experience®
This enhanced release will feature approximately nine additional minutes of never-before-seen footage and takes us to a spectacular world beyond imagination
, where a reluctant hero embarks on an epic adventure, ultimately fighting to save the alien world he has learned to call home. James Cameron, the Oscar-winning director of “Titanic,” first conceived the film 15 years ago, when the means to realize his vision did not exist yet. Four years in production, AVATAR 3D, a live action film with a new generation of special effects, delivers a fully immersive cinematic experience of a new kind, where the revolutionary technology invented to make the film disappears into the emotion of the characters and the sweep of the story.

WHAT REVIEWERS ARE SAYING:
A fully believable, flesh-and-blood (albeit not human flesh and blood) romance is the beating heart of "Avatar." Cameron has never made a movie just to show off visual pyrotechnics: Every bit of technology in "Avatar" serves the greater purpose of a deeply felt love story.
Hollywood Reporter
Kirk Honeycutt

Much of the time, though, you're transfixed by the beauty of a spectacle that seems all of a piece. Special effects have been abolished, in effect, since the whole thing is so special.
Wall Street Journal
Joe Morgenstern

Avatar's shock and awe demand to be seen. You've never experienced anything like it, and neither has anyone else.
Los Angeles Times
Kenneth Turan

Once again, [Cameron] has silenced the doubters by simply delivering an extraordinary film. There is still at least one man in Hollywood who knows how to spend $250 million, or was it $300 million, wisely.
Chicago Sun-Times
Roger Ebert

Avatar delivers. Combining beyond-state-of-the-art moviemaking with a tried-and-true storyline and a gamer-geek sensibility - not to mention a love angle, an otherworldly bestiary, and an arsenal of 22d-century weaponry - the movie quite simply rocks.
Philadelphia Inquirer
Steven Rea
